Our Private Idaho
Preservation of Idaho’s singular places is a central goal of our practice. Nowhere is this more evident than our work with The Atlanta School - an art & architecture school in the remote mining town of Atlanta, Idaho. Situated at the headwaters of the Middle Fork of the Boise River, and at the gateway of the Sawtooth Wilderness area, their town is a “refuge for artists, historians, individualists, miners and naturalists”.
Our work here runs the gamut of education, hands-on restoration and construction, rehabilitation consultation, and the recording of historic structures and places. Since 2014, we have provided classes on vernacular construction, material and finish maintenance and repair, and documenting and assessing historic structures. Students learned a variety of practical skills and techniques, as well as an academic approach to preservation and rehabilitation. Look for upcoming classes and workshops in Atlanta and nearby Rocky Bar by visiting The Atlanta School.
